Sportsbooks are boosting the Oakland Raiders’ odds by the day. Is it because their head coach’s future is finally safe?
I appears no indictment is in the cards for Oakland Raiders coach Tom Cable, who allegedly assaulted one of his assistants earlier this season.
The Napa County district attorney ruled that Cable will not be charged or convicted with any crime. Despite the fact that his assistant had a broken jaw and claimed he was punched and attacked, other witnesses didn’t corroborate the story.
I can’t help but wonder – is Cable innocent or is the NFL protecting Cable the way alleged mobsters like the Gambino or Genovese Family get “protected”? Something just seems fishy about this. Plaxico Burress is in prison for shooting himself – was that not punishment enough? Meanwhile, Cable is free. Hey – maybe he didn’t do it. But it’s hard to believe an assistant would simply make up an assault story.
Perhaps there’s a vendetta involved for the assistant, but there’s no way of knowing. Seems to me like Cable is getting the double standard treatment over the NFL players simply because he’s a coach, and closer to the NFL equivalent of a “white collar” criminal.
